The Volvo XC40 is a subcompact SUV that has been in production since 2017. The XC40 is the smallest SUV in the Volvo range and is positioned below the mid-size XC60. This SUV features the Concept 40.1 design by Thomas Ingenlath, which was unveiled in 2016. The XC40 is also based on the CMA platform. It is powered by Volvo's 1.5-litre three-cylinder and existing 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines.
