The Mitsubishi Lancer was once a popular economy car and many people loved it for its simplicity, affordability, and fuel efficiency. On the other hand, there were questions around its long term reliability, which consequently affected its resale value. In 2007 It was replaced by the MITSUBISHI GALANT FORTIS in Japan but it retained the Lancer name in other markets. The Lancer Evolution which is a popular rally car is based on this platform. Production of the Evolution ended in 2015 while that of the Lancer ended in 2017. A few exceptions are being manufactured in China due to its popularity there.
